How to develop the sense of touch

How to develop the sense of touch:

Our body has approximately five (5) million touch receptors under the skin. Every time you feel pain, touch, or a change in temperature, these receptors send electrical signals to neurons which carry the message through the spine and to the brain. Why your sense of touch varies across different parts of the body? It is because the number of sensors varies. Thus, the lips, mouth, face and hands contain more touch sensors than on the back, arms or legs.

Not all regions of the body react exactly the same way to a caress (both in the way of direction, in the force felt, or according to the effect of heat or cold, or wind).

For baby's and young children (less than 5 years old):

Wellness massages: Wellness baby massages are excellent tactile activities for babies and young children. They promote relaxation, relaxation and well-being, and also help to strengthen the emotional bond between the child and the person massaging them.

Here are some ways to improve your sense and perception of touch

  1. Fingers touch: Start by reconnecting with the surrounding things using sensitivity. Take the time to feel the objects you want to feel under your fingers. Touch the world like it's the first time, focus on that first feeling you might feel.
  2. Blind touch: Blindfold yourself. Describe objects without naming them, focusing on the shape, weight, texture, temperature, and any other tactile sensations the objects give you.
  3. Wild natural touch: Let your fingers touch and caress all the elements of nature: boots, leaves, branches, herbs, flowers, plants, sand, earth, etc.
  4. Swimming in natural water: Nothing beats a good swim in a natural, wild river or in a lake. So plan to find a little corner of paradise near you where you can swim or even play in the water with your children. You can forget swimming pools, water parks and busy areas, if you got access to natural water site. The sea is also an ideal place to enjoy good swimming, and we are spoiled in the United Kingdom because there are extraordinary sites and beaches. If you have the sea or ocean available, you may already be accustomed to bathing in cold water but don't hesitate to do so, it's invigorating and rejuvenating, it energizes the body, you have to do it and live it to realize it. For bathing in the river too, don't wait for scorching temperatures to swim, take advantage of it all year round, you will be surprised at the benefits your body will get from it.
  5. Wind effectIn general we don't like so much the wind, we hide from it with windproof sweaters, and it can even have bad connotations when we talk about high winds. But here, the objective is to let ourselves be lulled by the light breeze and to feel its effects on our body. Let the wind caress you! Feel the effect of the wind on your skin, on your hair, on your hands, etc. The effect of a slight breeze on the skin can revive the detection of subcutaneous neurons and even give you goosebumps if it is cold. So concentrate your thinking on the feeling of the wind on your body, in your hair, what do you feel on your skin? How does your skin react? Watch the goosebumps form on your arms and pay attention to the chain reaction in your body of this natural phenomenon within us.

  6. Use heat well: Using heat on the body, such as experiencing intense summer temperatures or letting hot wax drip onto the skin, can revive certain areas of the skin's sense of touch.

  7. Use cold well: Although temperatures that are too cold harm chemical reactions and numb touch sensors, it is beneficial to swim in freezing water for 5 to 10 minutes a day because the cells then enter a repair and/or maintenance mode. A regeneration of the sense of touch in certain sensitive areas of the palms of the hands has been noted by a study from a Chinese university.
  8. Lay down on the ground and sleep: While being very careful of ticks, choose a place where you can lie down on the ground. Focus your attention on the vibrations of the ground! Feel the contact with the ground, look for where you feel pressure or where you perceive a variation in temperature. You can choose to sleep as well and can test several different soil or grass and find the one you feel best on. You can repeat the operation as often as you want. Remember the song -Strawberries field forever-. Hope that you can smell and fell the same on this kind of field in your life.

  9. Play in or with water: See how it slips through your hands, how it seeps into the slightest crack, or even how it destroys ant tiny earth walls or castle at the beach. Playing with water allows you to marvel at this element and understand its material. My memory brings me back to a moment in the summer of 1999 when one of my three boys lay down in a small pool of warm water trapped between two sandbars along the beach. To my knowledge, his body had never calmed down so much in direct sunlight.

His sense of touch was in a state of ecstasy and with his so serene look filled me with a lot of joy..

  10. Types of touching between people : Pay attention to the other people you are around for a while. Notice the differences in the firmness of a handshake, the warmth of an embrace coming from your children, your partner, your parents. Pay attention to the softness of your partner's kisses.

  11. Wellness massages: Wellness massages are excellent tactile activities for people in general, too. Massages promote blood circulation, which helps nourish the touch sensor nerves.
